PROJECT OVERVIEW
Thumb is an innovative start-up that aims to revolutionise carbon footprint management for Italian companies by offering a comprehensive and intuitive solution for recording and reducing environmental footprints. The Thumb platform is designed to facilitate the process of monitoring and reporting emissions, enabling companies to contribute significantly to building a more sustainable and green future.
The platform features a central administration area managed by the Thumb team, ensuring secure data management. Registered companies have access to a customised area to upload details of their profile and documents related to the services offered. A sophisticated emission calculation algorithm provides a detailed view of the environmental impact in different categories.
I worked as UX/UI designer together with the CTO and the team of backend/frontend developers. My initial responsibility was the creation of wireframes for key userflows related to the customised business area. Subsequently, I was in charge of creating a unified user interface for this area, ensuring a consistent and engaging user experience.

THE CHALLENGES
During the development of the Thumb project, I was faced with several challenges, the most significant of which was the design of the 'Financial Overview'. The Financial Overview is the part of the application that gives the user the possibility to view the overall rating of their company's emissions and also the details of the individual categories and services that make up the score. This area proved complex as it required not only a clear and intuitive representation of the transactions available to the user, but also the management of a vast amount of complex data.
Addressing the Financial Overview required a careful approach to ensure that users could easily understand crucial financial information without feeling overwhelmed by the complexity of the data. The main challenge was to strike a balance between the comprehensive presentation of financial details and an accessible, intuitive and efficient user interface.
I sought to develop a solution that would simplify navigation through intricate data, allowing users to explore financial information clearly and easily. The goal was to ensure that even non-finance-savvy users could easily understand and interact with the different transactions available in the Financial Overview.
NEW UI
Another critical challenge I faced during the development of Thumb was the creation of a new user interface (UI), a phase that required extensive research and detailed attention to align the design with the overall vision of the project.
Before proceeding with changes to the previously created wireframes, I spent time creating two separate moodboards, each representing a different visual style that would fit the specific nature of Thumb's service. Both approaches were carefully considered, reflecting the essence of an intuitive and modern user experience.
After a phase of analysis and discussion with the client, the second moodboard option was chosen. This choice provided clear guidance for the creation of a consistent UI, encapsulating the desired visual identity for Thumb. The adoption of this style required careful implementation to ensure that every graphic element, from colour to information organisation, reflected the professionalism and usability required for such a crucial service.

By addressing the challenge of clearly defining the 'Financial Overview', I was able to develop a user flow that simplifies access and understanding of the company's financial information, significantly improving the overall usability of the platform.
The creation of the new UI, based on the moodboard selected by the client, resulted in a consistent and modern visual interface. This new aesthetic not only reflects Thumb's overall vision, but also results in an improved user experience, providing clarity and accessibility for users. The design approach helped make the Thumb platform not only functional but also aesthetically appealing.
